About Midlands House Walk

This site walks round an ordinary house in the South Carolina Midlands and shows what the plumbing looks like from where you would stand: Columbia, West Columbia, Cayce, Lexington, Irmo and Blythewood.

It is a publication, not a contractor. It takes no calls, books no work, sends nobody out and does no installs or repairs. It has no connection to any local plumbing company with a similar name, and it is not connected to any utility or agency it cites.

Who runs it

The site is run by the same team as Plumbing Supply and More, SoftPro Water Systems, Quality Water Treatment and Central Plumbing & HVAC. Where a page links to one of those, it says so beside the link. Central Plumbing & HVAC works in Pennsylvania, not here.

Where the facts come from

Each page lists its sources: Clemson Extension, Columbia Water, the City of West Columbia, the EPA, the CDC, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Weather Service, SC811 and the South Carolina Code. Some state and county sites could not be opened when these pages were written, so pages say "check with" those offices rather than quote them. Rules and fees change. The office that issues your permit or sends your bill has the last word.

The pictures

Most pictures are real photographs, credited on the picture credits page. Where no fitting photograph could be found, the picture was made with AI and is labelled where it appears. A picture from outside the Midlands says so in its caption when the place matters.
